Lets start at the very beginning

that is a very good place to start!

Many of you have tuned in to our Caring Bridge site and followed the story of our little man- Gage. This first post is simply a recap of our entire experience from Philly in June to Milly in October. Thank you if you are a repeat visitor and welcome to our story if you are a first timer! 

June:

Chris and I found out at our 20 week check up that our little boy had something called CDH- a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. He had a hole in his diaphragm which caused his bowels and intestines to enter his chest cavity putting pressure on his lungs and also causing his heart to shift. There was a 50% chance he would make it full term, after that there was a 75% chance of survival. Our doctor in Macon recommended us to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for delivery and eventually surgery. In June we made our first trip to Philly.

July:

We made our second trip to Philly- everything looked good-under the circumstances.

August:

We made our third trip to Philly-everything looked good-under the circumstances.

August: a week later

Due to some complications, mom and I had to leave for Philadelphia about 2 weeks earlier than planned.

September:

5 weeks before his due date, Gage decided to make his entrance into this world. Due to further complications, I had an emergency c-section...Chris flew to Philly about 14 hours before Gage was born. He was 6 pounds and 14 ounces.

September: 5 days later

Gage had his surgery and everything was looking good

September-October:

We spent every day in the NICU and every night at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. 

Mid October:

HOMEWARD BOUND! We returned to Georgia...so good to be home!

November:

Spent our Thanksgiving with family

December:

Spent our Christmas with family

This is our story in a nutshell- Gage is a miracle and God is so full of grace and mercy- we are blessed beyond belief!
